Professor and Chair of Creative Technologies at the University of Adelaide, where he is the Director of the Sia Furler Institute for Contemporary Music and Media. Tom has over 30 years of experience in leadership, music, media, creativity, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship. In 1990, he co-founded Tomandandy, which he built into one of the largest music production companies in the world.

Conversation Guest: Associate Professor Nickolas Falkner

Falkner is the Director of the Australian Smart Cities Consortium at the University of Adelaide and a member of the Computer Science Education Research Group.

He is an award-winning teacher and conducts research into a number of areas: computer network design and development, network security, privacy preservation, blockchain technologies, the Internet of Things and educational research, with a focus on increasing student participation, retention, and enthusiasm. He works extensively in education beyond the traditional borders of the University and is heavily involved in the University’s AdX initiative, as well as the Computer Science Educational Research centre’s series of Digital Technologies MOOCs to support teachers across Australia.

Tisato is a commercial lawyer, company director and Government board appointee. He has been practising law for more than 25 years. He is admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of South Australia, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia. Adrian now exclusively acts as external general counsel to a select group of companies, industry associations and non-profit organisations in his legal practice (GT Legal), which he founded in 2011. His practice includes the provision of legal advice and legal representation to organisations that are dealing with the government. He specialises in innovation with a keen interest in the arts, technology and public policy, including how these three things intersect.
