MY WORK

As long term business manager, mentor and friend  I went through many highs and lows with Olympic Silver medallist Tatiana Grigorieva.

We both learned much that now sees her as a successful business person and me able to translate the experiences into valuable advice for people building and innovating in business and facing seemingly insurmountable challenges.

Tatiana returned to Australia three weeks prior to the Sydney Olympics with a severely sprained ankle - a result of missing the landing pit in a competition in Europe - unsure if she would be able to compete in Sydney.

Right up until the day before the Qualifying round it was touch and go if she would be able to get on the track.  Taking it literally one step at a time she Qualified for the Final and hoped that her ankle would recover enought to compete in the Final two days later.

Compete she did and along the way had to make gutsy decisions on the fly like putting the bar up to the world record height in an attempt to win Gold rather than take the easy way out and settle for a medal.

And all the time coping with the pressure of a jam packed stadium with a record crowd cheering for Cathy Freeman and this new found Aussie hero - Tatiana!!

Thats pressure that I can help people in business learn from!!

But its not just my time running a Sports Marketing business and coaching athletes in competitions around the world that gives me an insight into what it takes to be the best.

Working closely for a few weeks with Sir Richard Branson taught me about how to keep your energy and drive going 24/7.

Having Gl;enn Wheatley as my business partner in a StartUp Media business in China has taught me that no matter what the obstacles never ever give up.  This is the basic philosphy Glenn relied on in building the career of John Farnham and the Little River Bang and bringing FM Radio into this country.

Working in the early days at Neller Software taught me all about employee loyalty - when people were paid at times in at that time worthess shares as the comapny was short on cash - Thats Loyalty

\Working with Derryn Hinch as a business partner taught me about Passion and Belief in what you stand for and stand up for.

All of these lessons and many many more I bring when working with clients to build and grow their organisations.

Working with the then biggest business software company in the world - Dun & Bradstreet Software - in the 80s and 90s I learnt how to think like a big blue chip corporate as we grew through Merger and Aquistion.  And then applied that to a small SA Software company which was down and almost out until we pieced together what we had and what we could aquire to build a market leading product.  Sales to Coles, West Aust Newspapers, Woolworths, MBF and many other household names turned the comapny into an industry force.

He has become a keen observer of Web 2.0 and is able to navigate the complexities of this rapidly changing landscape and can help you find your way around too."
